Currently located 105 miles/170 km WNW of Progreso, Yucatan, Hurricane Milton is moving east across the Gulf of Mexico near 9 mph/15 km/h, and its track will take it near or just north of the Yucatan Peninsula later today and on Tuesday as it moves towards Florida. It is a Category 5 storm and further changes are expected during the next few days. Due to its course, a Hurricane Warning has been declared for the north coast of the Yucatan, a Hurricane Watch from Rio Lagartos to Cabo Catoche and a Tropical Storm Warning from Rio Lagartos to Cancun in the state of Quintana Roo. A Yellow Alert is in effect for Cancun, Isla Mujeres, Puerto Morelos and Cozumel and a Green Alert for Playa del Carmen, the Riviera Maya and Tulum. Royal Resorts, along with the Mexican authorities, are watching the storm’s possible path closely and we will provide regular updates.

Hurricane Milton will bring heavy rain and windy conditions to our area on Monday night and Tuesday. The storm surge will be accompanied by large waves. Ocean swells will cause powerful surf and rip currents in the next few days.
