UK: The Stock Exchange Hotel in Manchester, owned by Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs, has closed its Stock Market Grill restaurant just four months after launch.

The Stock Market Grill issued a statement on Monday morning that it will close its doors with immediate effect. The British brasserie restaurant, which replaced Tom Kerridge’s Bull and Bear, opened to the public on 1 March 2023.

Brothers Joe and Daniel Schofield – the team behind Manchester’s Schofield’s Bar – alongside wine expert James Brandwood operated the Stock Market Grill. It marked their first foray into the restaurant world with executive chef Joshua Reed Cooper heading up the kitchen.

The team will continue to run the Sterling cocktail bar, located at The Vault within the hotel.

A new F&B concept is said to revealed “in due course”.

The Stock Exchange Hotel opened in November 2019 and offers 40 rooms and suites. It is managed by GG Hospitality, owned by Neville, Giggs and Singaporean businessman Peter Lim, Neville and Giggs.

Other hospitality assets within the GG portfolio include Hotel Football and Cafe Football, in addition to the company’s catering arm, GG Events and Catering.

In March this year, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) calculated the consumer prices index (CPI) measure of inflation at 10.4 per cent over the 12 months to February. The increase was attributed to the rising cost of alcoholic drinks in restaurants and pubs, as well as price increases for some salad and vegetable items. Inflation is expected to fall to 2.9 per cent by the end of 2023.
