Fairmont returns to New Orleans

Accor’s Fairmont brand is returning to New Orleans, with a planned opening of a new hotel in summer 2025.

Louisiana-based developer Kailas Companies will redevelop a local landmark, the 31 storey former Bank of New Orleans building. Dating from the early 1970s, the block was designed in the International Style, and is on the National Register of Historic Places.

Rooftop pool

The new Fairmont will have 250 rooms and suites, occupying 18 storeys of the property. It will also feature three food and beverage venues, including a rooftop bar with swimming pool offering great views over the city of New Orleans.

In its downtown location, the new hotel will be close to many of the city’s attractions. It will also become a new destination in its own right, with more than 20,000 sq ft of function space, ballrooms and function rooms and a 10,000 sq ft spa.

A return to the city

The previous Fairmont in New Orleans was a victim of Hurricane Katrina, which forced it to close in 2005. Following lengthy refurbishment, it reopened in 2009 as an independent property, before being aligned with Hilton’s Waldorf Astoria brand.
