Hyatt Hotels Corporation has signed an agreement with Hoteles Color Especial for Thompson Seville, a 101-key property scheduled to open in 2026.
Marking the first Hyatt hotel in Spain’s fourth largest city, the project will channel the destination’s creative energy, with guestrooms and suites designed in a modern, luxurious style that nods to the city’s cultural, artistic and architectural legacy. Elsewhere, Thompson Seville will feature a restaurant, rooftop bar with a pool, dedicated meeting rooms, co-working space and a gym.
With 18 Thompson hotels currently open across 16 cities globally, plans for Thompson Seville are pivotal to the brand’s expansion plans and continues Hyatt’s growth momentum across EAME.
“We have ambitious plans for our brand expansion in Europe, Africa and the Middle East, and this announcement is a true testament to our continued success in strengthening our position and ever- growing brand footprint in the region,” says Javier Águila, Group President for EAME at Hyatt. “We are honoured to work with Hoteles Color Especial as we start our journey in a new city for Hyatt – the vibrant Seville, in which we aim to create yet another unique and luxurious experience for our leisure travellers. The Thompson brand has a vast potential in our region and particularly in cities that combine a strong leisure and lifestyle offering.”
Thompson Seville becomes the brand’s fourth property in Europe, joining Thompson Madrid, which opened in 2022; the previously announced Thompson Rome, expected to open mid-2024; and Thompson Vienna, slated to join the Hyatt portfolio in 2025.
The expansion of the Thompson brand is also reflective of Hyatt’s accelerated brand growth in Spain. Hyatt’s Spanish portfolio spans 11 different brands. With the combination of properties in cities such as Madrid and Barcelona, as well as its portfolio of resorts in the Canary and Balearic archipelagos, Hyatt offers the fourth largest hospitality portfolio in the country by room count.
