This announcement follows the groundbreaking of mixed-use development Taikoo Li Xi’an, which is a joint venture between Swire Properties and Xi’an Qujiang New District.

A reflection of its setting

Set apart first by its location, The House in Xi’an, which is expected to open in 2028, is located within the Small Wild Goose Pagoda historical and cultural zone.

The hotel is a part of the Taikoo Li Xi’an mixed-use development for which extensive research has been undertaken into the historic background of this site, with efforts made to preserve its cultural relics and traditions.

Designed by award winning Japanese architect Shigeru Ban and interior design firm LAYAN, the hotel will provide a luxury experience encompassing dining, art, culture, lifestyle and wellness.

The hotel will feature approximately 115 guest rooms and 55 residences, with most of the accommodation overlooking the pagoda.

Continued growth

The development of the House in Xi’an, with its exact name yet to be revealed, signifies the continued expansion of The House Collective following last year’s announcements of plans to open new Houses in Tokyo and Shenzhen.

The House Collective launched in 2008 with the opening of The Opposite House in Beijing. Each hotel in the portfolio, also including The Upper House in Hong Kong, The Temple House in Chengdu and The Middle House in Shanghai, stands out for its distinct design and cultural character, with inspiration taken from its location.

Commenting on the newly announced plans, Toby Smith, Deputy Chairman of Swire Hotels, said: “This new House in Xi’an, a city of such historical and cultural significance, marks another important step in the growth of The House Collective brand.”

“We always strive to create memorable experiences that truly marry our passion for luxury hospitality with the local culture, and this world heritage site, with its Jianfu Temple, a royal temple of Tang Chang’an, offers the perfect stage for us to continue this journey.”
