Standard International gives first look into expansion across major European cities

Standard International has affirmed its European expansion plans by unveiling details of three forthcoming openings.

The independent lifestyle hospitality brand is set to open new outposts in Brussels, Lisbon and Dublin.

Anticipated to open in the first half of 2025, The Standard, Brussels is poised to redefine the concept of mixed-use spaces. Enveloped by the ZIN multipurpose redevelopment project in the Northern Quarter of Brussels the new hotel will find home within the transformed World Trade Center.

The property will comprise 200 rooms, 20 of which will be The Standard’s first extended-stay offering. Spearheading the creative vision in tandem with The Standard’s in-house design team – led by Verena Haller – are Jaspers-Eyers Architects and Bernard Dubois Architects. Drawing inspiration from the adjacent botanical garden, the hotel’s ground floor will feature a lobby restaurant and bar. A rooftop garden and brasserie meanwhile will find home on the 29th floor, providing panoramic views with indoor and outdoor seating.

Embarking on its Iberian adventure in late 2025, The Standard, Lisbon will see the transformation of a former naval hospital into a mixed-use gem. The architectural resurrection of the site is courtesy of STC Arquitetura, while The Standard’s in-house design team is working in partnership with Jaime Hayon of Hayon Studio. The property will comprise approximately 172 rooms alongside new branded residences nestled in the historic town of Alfama, Lisbon.

Culinary offerings will include a café with picturesque views of Campo de Santa Clara, a lounge housed in a meticulously restored pharmacy and a signature restaurant. The Standard, Lisbon will also feature an outdoor pool deck and terrace, as well as a rooftop cocktail bar. A colourful spa will serve as a playful respite, touting a menu that draws inspiration from Alfama’s Moorish heritage.

Looking ahead to 2027, Standard International will open The Standard, Dublin, which will debut as a 200-room property in the Dublin Arch development.
