InterContinental Hotels & Resorts makes brand debut in Auckland

InterContinental Auckland is one of the first hotels in the world to take on a series of new offerings introduced as a part of the brand evolution that was announced in 2023.

Waterfront luxury

A part of the one billion dollar (NZD) Commercial Bay lifestyle precinct, InterContinental Auckland is positioned on the city’s waterfront amid a wealth of upscale retail, dining and office space. Representative of the brand’s evolution, the hotel is designed to captivate the imagination of modern luxury travellers.

Storytelling runs throughout the hotel and its art collection, curated by Coupland Cormack and prioritising local and Iwi artists, with a focus on Māori culture. A feature installation by international contemporary artist Nike Savvas adorns the lobby and photos by New Zealand artist Fiona Pardington feature throughout each room.

In this prime location, the hotel and its restaurants and bar benefit from being set right on Waitematā Harbour. The hotel is ideally located for Auckland’s city business district, with direct access to main transport terminals. Auckland Airport is just a 30-minute drive away.

New brand features

The hotel houses 139 guest rooms and suites, spanning the 6th to 11th floors, with city and water views. Local inspiration brought into the interiors includes a Whariki (woven panel) by the Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei weaving collective.

The hotel’s all-day dining destination, Advieh Restaurant & Bar, has been created in partnership with internationally renowned chef, Gareth Stewart, to offer a contemporary twist on Middle Eastern inspired cuisine while also championing New Zealand’s produce.

This restaurant’s culinary concept will also come into the culinary offering of the June 2024 opening Club InterContinental lounge. Menu items bring to life the brand’s commitment to offering nutritionally balanced, science-based dishes that reflect differing guest needs.

InterContinental has also introduced scientifically backed solutions that help reduce fatigue, including complimentary access to the jet lag app Timeshifter. Later this year, the hotel will open its 24-hour fitness centre, and a rooftop bar, which is independently owned by Five Fellas, will also open on level 21.
